The consultation: Prior to the first visit of your consultation, you will need to fill out a relatively lengthy questionnaire regarding your health and lifestyle history. The more information you can report, the better we will be able to design an integrative, wellness treatment program. After finishing, you will need to return the questionnaire so it can be reviewed prior to your initial visit. Your initial consultation visit will last approximately 90 minutes. Your health and lifestyle history will be reviewed in detail. Following your visit a treatment plan will be written. You can almost consider this a form of health and lifestyle coaching. You can expect review and recommendations in the following lifestyle areas-
In addition, the use of the following alternative modalities may be suggested:
The Follow up Appointment: Approximately two to three weeks following your first visit, another 60 minute appointment will be scheduled. If you are visiting us from an out of town location, however, we will be able to schedule your appointment followup for the next day. At this time you will recieve and we will discuss your treatment plan. This will include an analysis of your current diet. Together, we will prioritize and decide which of the options suggested in the plan you wish to pursue. Not all recommendations need to be followed at once. It is in the treatment decision process that partnership with you is vital. Also at this time, referrals to alternative providers such as naturopathic physicians, massage therapists and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners may be suggested. Through all of this your participation is crucial. Keep in mind that we cannot give you any sort of magic bullet or miraculous herbal medicine. Don't expect that a nutritional supplement in and of itself will lead to healing. The road to wellness cannot be found in pill format. It oftentimes takes discipline and hard work for significant change to occur. The potential for healing really resides within you. We will try our best to facilitate this process and help you find your own innate potential to heal. Not Primary Care: It is important that you understand that an integrative
medicine consult is not the same as primary care. We do not provide emergency
coverage of any sort. It is important that you have a primary care provider
such as an internist or family practitioner to manage your acute and chronic
medical conditions. An Integrative Medicine visit is a specialized consultation.
A primary doctor is a vital component to your good health and we are sorry
that we cannot provide that service at this time. |
